My name is Dr. Mitchell Yass, DPT. I established almost 30 years ago that the primary method of diagnosing through the MRI which is at the core of the entirm medical establishment was baseless. Regardless of the specialty, in almost all cases a determination of the cause of your pain is achieved through the use of diagnostic testing. I have the theoretical, clinical and scientific evidence. What I have found is that the cause of pain in more than 98% of cases is muscular. These types of causes do not show up on diagnostic tests and there is no medical specialty educated or trained to identify them.
So if you are having pain and an x-ray or MRI finds a structural abnormality like arthritis, a herniated disc, stenosis, pinched nerve, mensical tear or labral tear for the first time at the time of the pain, they will assert this is the cause. This is known as correlative theory or junk science. First of all, it could be seen you have two elbows at the time of the pain and nobody is asserting this is the cause. Secondly, as many people without pain have the same structural abnormalities in the same percentages as those with pain. This reinforces the point that the structural abnormalities and pain are independent variables.
The reality is that most pain is due to muscle weakness or imbalance. You know this because you associate your pain with doing activity. When the activity is stopped the pain decreases or resolves. The tissue associated with activity is muscle. The problem is with nobody in a position to identify the musuclar causes they remain undefined and you continue to try to perform your activities straining the affected muscles and continuing the pain. Eventually you are left with the only option which is to stop or limit the activities you love to perform.
The Yass Method is a method I developed right from school. I realized the symptoms people experience are coming from the tissue in distress. If you can interpret the symptoms, you can identify the tissue in distress eliciting them. This is true for muscular causes as well. The method allows me to identify thhe specific muscles responsible for causing the symptoms and associated dysfunction. My ability to resolve the muscular causes stems from my self derived understanding of strength training in which I applied the laws of physics to weight lifting. Nobody has ever done this. I can isolate any muscle and apply the appropriate resistance to get muscles stronger extremely quickly. This means pain is resolved and function is returned in just weeks; not months are years.
The reality is this is "the truth" I have been given. It is not part of any ciriculum. It is self taught. it is entrenched in science and has been used for almost 30 years. I strongly suggest you take advantage of this opportunity to reclaim your life and live the life you so justly deserve.
Forget orthotics and braces. Learn the cause of your pain from a biomechanical perspective and correct the cause. This leads to long term pain resolution amd optimum performance.
For those interested in my background, I have a doctorate in Physical Therapy from the New York Institute of Technology in Westbury, New York in 2010. I have authored 3 books, Overpower Pain, The Pain Cure Rx, The Yass Method for Pain-Free Movement. I performed a PBS special called The Pain Prescription which aired nationally from 2015-2017. I am a contributing author to the internationally acclaimed magazine What Doctor's Don't Tell You and I am a blogger and contributing author to Bottom Line Health, the largest subscription newsletter in the US.

Muscles determine bone position and functionality. Maximal performance occurs when all bones are aligned and in proper position to the force lines that develop through the creation of function or performance. This is accomplished through developing strength and balance of all muscle involved in func...

This is an article from Bottom Line Inc I wrote regarding the issue of recurrent ankle sprains. The key is that the cause is not at the ankle but the hip. All attempts to address this issue at the ankle including braces, orthotics and shoes will fail. Learn the true cause of this issue so you never deal with it again.

Bunions don't occur arbitrarily. They result from altered force being placed on the first ball of the foot. The process can be stopped and prevented with an understanding of how to stop the forces from being shifted from going to the midline of the foot to over the first ball of the foot. You will be stunned to see that you have absolute control of either stopping the process or preventing it.

This video explains the role the posterior tibialis plays in supporting the arch and leading to proper weight bearing with all 5 balls of the feet. You will never think that having flat feet or developing bunions is inevitable. Running requires strengthening of this muscle at a much higher level.

When you have pain at the knee, the medical establiahment will focus in on the knee as to where the cause of the pain is. This is lunacy. I have shown in more then 99.99% of cases the cause is not where the pain is being experienced.
This holds true for knee pain amd this is a primary example of understanding the biomechanics behind the idea. If you are a runner you will want to condition yourself to prevent this from happening to you.

Training Block was created with a mission to support and empower runners, in order to elevate our sport. We do so by giving runners access to a network of local sport performance providers, who provide runners with the care they need from coaching, physical therapy, massage, strength training, and more. We also give providers an easy way to connect with each other and share articles, videos, and other resources that benefit runners and providers alike. For every service booked through Training Block, we donate 10% of our revenues to Training Block’s Elite Athlete Fund, which sponsors elite runners who do not have professional contracts and need financial support for racing at their highest level.
