Ruby Wyles is a runner, triathlete, running and strength coach, and full-time student Cookeville, TN. She’s the producer of the popular podcasts For The Long Run and the Female Athlete Nutrition podcasts and also a freelance writer in the running, health and fitness industry, passionate about sharing stories and normalizing mental and physical struggles.
Currently a D1 college student-athlete, don’t be fooled by her speedy PRs and “elite” status. Growing up in England, Ruby began running as an overweight kid looking for an activity that didn’t cost lots of money. After a difficult few years battling eating disorders and mental health challenges, Ruby turned to running for an escape. Ruby finally found a sense of freedom and peace when she was running, leading her to fall in love with the sport and wanting to share this feeling with others.
Studying Exercise Physiology and Psychology, Ruby is a self-confessed nerd and loves combining the science with the art of running and strength coaching. Also living with chronic illnesses herself, Ruby is keen to show that the hands you’re dealt don’t define you or the athlete you can be. No matter your age, ability or background, Ruby loves helping runners fall in love with movement and realize the goals they’ve set out for themselves.
Philosophy: Athlete comes first.
I design training around the athlete rather than trying to fit the athlete into a framework or template I’ve already created.
I want to listen and learn from each and every one of my athletes and hear what training they enjoy and what they don’t, what they believe works for them, and understand their life’s demands. Also, it’s okay if you don’t know too, we’re on this journey together!
I don’t exclusively use a high or low mileage approach, force athletes to run X number of workouts a week or push them to do things before they feel ready. I want to work WITH you and meet you where you’re at, before helping you see that you’re capable of much more and helping you get there!
Coaching is a partnership and a collaboration: together we go further.

Training Block was created with a mission to support and empower runners, in order to elevate our sport. We do so by giving runners access to a network of local sport performance providers, who provide runners with the care they need from coaching, physical therapy, massage, strength training, and more. We also give providers an easy way to connect with each other and share articles, videos, and other resources that benefit runners and providers alike. For every service booked through Training Block, we donate 10% of our revenues to Training Block’s Elite Athlete Fund, which sponsors elite runners who do not have professional contracts and need financial support for racing at their highest level.
