Active Isolated Flexibility (AIF) was originally popularized by Jim and Phil Wharton as a method for effectively and intuitively increasing mobility. As an approach, AIF leverages the agonist/antagonist pairing of muscle groups to functionally contract and elongate muscle tissues.
